According to the school district, the situation began shortly before 8:00 a.m. when a call—reportedly originating from a California phone number—claimed that an individual was heading toward Pennsbury East High School with an assault rifle and a pipe bomb. Given the severity of the threat, officials immediately enacted a secure hold, a precautionary safety measure used when a potential danger is believed to be outside the school rather than inside.
